October is the Month of the Jacket
Fall leaves. Cooler temps. Pumpkin spiced coffee in every hand. Well, this might not be Texas just yet but it doesn't mean that we can't start dressing the part. My closet is calling for fall clothes and the easiest, most versatile way for me to dress like the weather doesn't have personality issues is to wear a nice looking jacket.
When I was in high school, I loved my mom's wardrobe. It didn't matter that she was a 10/12 and I was barely a size 6. I would rock whatever I could. I could get away with wearing a lot of her jackets because that over-sized look was in. So I would roll up my sleeves and put on a nice top and jeans and that would be my look. Call me old-fashioned, or way ahead of the fashion curve, but I liked it. And isn't that what fashion is about? Finding looks you love and that work for you?
Now that I'm older, it's like I can't wear an outfit without a jacket. They come in all shapes and sizes, making them one of the most versatile pieces of clothing ever made (at least in my opinion). I wear them over dresses and with skirts, but my favorite way to wear a jacket is still with a shirt and pair of jeans. When it gets cooler, maybe I'll be able to add a pair of boots.
Jackets also come in different weights and fabrications, making them great for office wear and places like Texas, where the temperatures can vary in the blink of an eye. Plus, you aren't bound to them, like pullovers and some sweaters. You can take it off whenever you want to!
