New at the Shop #2: It's September Y'all!
Happy September! This is one of my favorite months of the year! Even though it's still warm outside, September is the month you see the light at the end of the heat wave tunnel. It's the month that produces everything pumpkin spice related. And it's the month that let's you know that the holidays are right around the corner. It's time to start prepping our homes for the upcoming season, and as this month's mood board suggests, it's time to embrace the theme of maximalism, or the theory in fashion and decor that more is more. Happy shopping!
Create + Restore
We have some really great things coming your way from our handmade and up-cycled division. I found some cool chenille fabric leftover at a resale store so we're creating some new pillows, and we've found some old mattress toppers that we're going to wash and use as filling for our poufs. And we're re-purposing remnants from 3 fabrics from the 1970's to make some turban-style headbands. Way to reuse the seemingly impossible!
My mom and I are also working on a revamped jewelry line with broken jewelry pieces that I found at a thrift shop. We plan on incorporating salvaged leather to create earrings, necklaces and bracelets that are stylish, sophisticated and sustainable.
Not Your Mama's Vintage
I have been prepping heavily for fall, holiday and the opening of our online store. One of my biggest fears is that we won't have a good selection for our customer, but when I say that I've prayed and all the good things are coming our way, I am for real! I think you're going to really enjoy this collection. I've literally taken 60+ pictures of potential new pieces of clothing to match up with the 100+ pieces we already have to make complete looks. And that's just clothing! We're collecting accessories and home decor pieces to coordinate with some of the things we're creating in our other divisions. And there's still more shopping to do! But don't think we're going to hoard it all month long. You'll see some fall pieces coming with us to our events this month.
A. Jett Art & Illustrations
My mom, the artist in residence, is working on a new abstract art series for September. It's a 4-part abstract series using watercolors and will be available in a 8 x 10 (matted down to a 5 x 7) and an 11 x 14 (matted down to an 8 x 10). Look for them at our events this month. And don't worry! Our current collection, "The 80's Collection", is still available and you'll be able to coordinate them with the new art to create or add to your own art wall.
As you can see, we have a ton of things going on this month, but make sure to visit our website and blog page weekly, as we'll be updating it with new information about sustainability, our September playlist, events we'll be at and our recycling efforts. Take a look below for what's going on and make sure to share the info with your friends.
Here's to a great start to your September!
